Cuez Admin uses two separate role systems: organization roles that control access to Admin itself, and group roles that control what a member can do within a specific group or workspace.
Organization roles
Organization roles are set on the 'Members' page (or when sending an invitation). They determine what level of access a user has across Cuez Admin.
Role | What they can do |
Owner | Full access to all Cuez Admin sections: manage members, groups and workspaces, media libraries, AI models, lists, block repositories, news feeds, web publishing, API keys, and settings |
Member | Access to Storydesk and Cuez Rundown. In Cuez Admin, Members see the projects they were added to, either through a group or individually. |
If a Member navigates to a restricted section of Admin, they will see an 'Admin access required' page. This is expected. To give a Member access to part of Cuez Admin, add them to a group, or to an individual Storydesk or Rundown project, with the 'Admin' role. See Organization roles and group roles are separate below.
To change a user's organization role, go to 'Members', click 'View' next to the user, and update the 'Organization Role' dropdown in the Member Details panel.
Group roles
Group roles are set separately from organization roles. They control what a user can do within a specific group and its workspaces.
Role | What they can do |
Admin | Full management access within the group |
Contributor | Can create and edit content within the group (default role when adding a member) |
Group roles are set in 'Groups': select a group or workspace, open the 'Access' tab, and use the role dropdown when adding a member.
Inheritance - members assigned at a parent group level gain access to all sub-groups and workspaces beneath it. Members assigned at workspace level have access only to that workspace.
Organization roles and group roles are separate
A user with a 'Member' organization role can still be an 'Admin' within a specific group. The two roles are set separately, but both affect what you see in Cuez Admin:
Organization role controls access to the Cuez Admin interface. Owners see every section.
Group role controls permissions within the content and workspaces of a group.
A Member who is an 'Admin' in any group, Storydesk, or Rundown project also sees the Cuez Admin sidebar with 'Dashboard', 'Groups', and 'AI Models'. Admins at group level can also invite members from the group's 'Access' tab.
