News feeds connect your organization to external news sources, wire services and RSS feeds, so that journalists in Storydesk can monitor incoming stories and promote them into their rundowns.
Feeds are configured per organization and then assigned per group, meaning that each group can have its own set of feeds and its own interest profile for relevance scoring in Storydesk.
Prerequisites
The news_feeds capability must be enabled for your organization. If News Feeds is not visible in the sidebar, contact [email protected].
Only organization owners can add and assign feeds. See Understanding roles in Cuez Admin for more on each role.
Adding a feed source
Navigate to 'News Feeds' in the left sidebar.
Click '+ Add feed' in the top-right corner.
In the 'Add Feed Source' modal, select the type of feed you want to add:
RSS / Atom - any public RSS or Atom feed URL
Belga - Belga news agency via CAPI with OAuth2
Reuters - Reuters Connect via Refinitiv API
AP (Associated Press) - Associated Press wire via the AP Media API, authenticated with an API key
Follow the prompts for your selected type. For RSS/Atom, enter the feed URL. For wire services, enter the API credentials provided by the service.
Save the feed source.
Once added, the feed begins ingesting content. Feed items appear in Storydesk's day view for journalists in the groups the feed is assigned to.
Assigning feeds to groups
Assign feeds from the ‘Feeds’ tab of a group or sub-group. Feeds assigned to a group are also available to all of its sub-groups.
To assign a feed:
Navigate to ‘Groups’ in the left sidebar.
Select the group or sub-group.
Open the ‘Feeds’ tab in the right panel.
Select the checkbox next to a feed under ‘Available’ to assign it. To remove a feed from the group, clear its checkbox under ‘Assigned’.
Setting up an interest profile
An interest profile tells the system what topics your group covers editorially. Feed items are scored for relevance against the profile and ranked in Storydesk's feeds view.
Without an interest profile, Storydesk does not score feed items. Journalists see a banner in the 'Relevant' tab asking for an interest profile, and can still see every incoming item in the 'All' tab.
To set up an interest profile:
Navigate to 'Groups' in the left sidebar and select the group.
Open the group's 'AI' tab.
In the 'Topics of Interest' field, describe the topics that matter to this group.
Optionally, add 'Source URLs' - websites the AI agent should monitor for relevant content.
Click 'Save Profile'.
The system generates a semantic embedding in the background. Once complete, feed items in Storydesk will show varied relevance scores based on how well they match your group's editorial focus. The AI agent also searches your source URLs for new content every 30 minutes when 'AI Story Discovery' is enabled in Settings.
