A workspace is a container for either a Storydesk, a Rundown project, or both. Storydesk workspaces are always created under a specific group, chosen from a Parent Group dropdown at creation time. A group can contain multiple workspaces of both types.
Workspaces are created and managed in Cuez Admin. Once created, users can open them directly from the workspace entry in the group tree.
Creating a workspace
Navigate to 'Groups' in the left sidebar.
In the group hierarchy tree, select the group you want to create the workspace under.
In the right panel, open the 'Settings' tab.
Under the 'Actions' section, click '+ Add Storydesk' or '+ Add Rundown project' depending on the type of workspace you need.
Follow the prompts to name the workspace and complete setup.
You can also create a workspace from the three-dot "..." menu next to a group in the tree: select 'Add Storydesk' or 'Add Rundown Project'.
Creating a workspace at the organization root
You can also create workspaces from the organization's own Quick Actions, without selecting a group first:
Add Storydesk opens a 'Create Storydesk' dialog with a required 'Parent Group' dropdown. You still choose which group the Storydesk belongs to before it is created.
Add Rundown project creates the project directly under the organization with no group assigned. It appears under the 'Unassigned Rundowns' node in the tree until you drag it into a group.
Workspace types
Storydesk - a newsdesk workspace for story planning, content creation, and publishing. Opens in the Storydesk application at storydesk.cuez.app for EU-hosted organizations, or us.storydesk.cuez.app for US-hosted organizations.
Rundown project - a broadcast playout workspace for live show management. Opens in Cuez Rundown at app.cuez.live for EU-hosted organizations, or app.us.cuez.live for US-hosted organizations. When you create a Rundown project workspace, a block repository is automatically created and linked to it in Blockz.
Rundown vs. Rundown Classic workspaces
When you add a Rundown project, choose 'Rundown 2.0' (the default) or 'Rundown Classic'. Choose 'Rundown Classic' if your organization still works in Cuez Rundown Classic.
To reuse an existing setup, select 'Existing project' and pick a source project. You can only copy from a project of the same version. For Rundown Classic, the source project's episode templates are copied too, unless you untick 'Episode templates'. 'Cuez template' is not available yet.
Note: Rundown Classic workspaces do not use Block Repositories. The Blockz repository option is not shown for Rundown Classic workspaces.
Managing a workspace
Click on a workspace in the group tree to open its detail panel on the right. The tabs available depend on the workspace type.
For Rundown project workspaces - Settings, Access, Lists, Media.
For Storydesk workspaces - Settings, Access, Lists, Media, Departments, Web Publishing.
Settings tab
Shows the workspace title, parent group, and type (read-only). You can rename the workspace here. The 'Actions' section contains:
Open Storydesk or Open Rundown - opens the workspace directly in the relevant application
Open Blockz (Rundown only) - opens the workspace's block repository in Blockz
Delete - removes the workspace from Cuez Admin
Access tab
Shows members with direct access to this workspace. Members can be added at the workspace level here, or they can inherit access from the parent group.
The explainer on this tab reads: "Workspace inherits members from its parent group. Assign or override roles at the group level." Role overrides for a workspace are set on the parent group, not on the workspace itself.
Opening a workspace directly
Hover over a workspace in the group tree to reveal quick-action icons:
External link icon - opens the workspace in Storydesk or Cuez Rundown directly
Grid icon (Rundown only) - opens the workspace in Blockz
Deep-links from Cuez Rundown
If you are working in Cuez Rundown and need to manage a project's settings or members, Rundown links directly to the relevant page in Cuez Admin:
New project (project switcher) - opens the 'Create Rundown Project' dialog in Admin, pre-scoped to the correct group
Project settings (overflow menu) - opens the 'Settings' tab of the workspace in Admin
Manage members (project header) - opens the 'Access' tab of the workspace in Admin
Note: for Rundown projects that sit directly under the organization root rather than under a group (in Unassigned Rundowns), these deep-links currently land on the Groups page without selecting the specific workspace. Drag the project into a group first, then open it from there.
Deleting a workspace
Open the workspace detail panel, go to the 'Settings' tab, and click the 'Delete' button in the 'Actions' section. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
