Creating and managing groups

How to create groups to represent your stations or departments, and manage the group hierarchy in Cuez Admin.

Groups are the organizational building blocks in Cuez Admin. They sit under your organization and represent the logical units of your broadcast operation, typically stations, channels, regions, or departments. Everything you configure in Cuez Admin (feeds, media libraries, members, workspaces) is scoped to a group and inherited downwards through the hierarchy. Organization owners and group admins can both manage groups.

The group hierarchy

Groups can be nested: a group can contain sub-groups, which can contain workspaces. The full hierarchy is displayed as a collapsible tree on the 'Groups' page.

The tree also shows an 'Unassigned Rundowns' entry. This is a system-generated node for Rundown projects that exist outside of any group. It is not user-created.

Creating a group

  1. Navigate to 'Groups' in the left sidebar.

  2. Click the three-dot '...' menu next to your organization name (the root node in the tree), and select 'Add Group'. Alternatively, use the '+ Add group' button in the organization's 'Settings' tab.

  3. Enter a name for the group and save.

To create a sub-group inside an existing group, click the '...' menu next to the parent group and select 'Add Subgroup'.

Editing a group

Click on a group in the tree to open its detail panel on the right. Select the 'Settings' tab.

From here you can:

  • Update the group name

  • Upload a group logo

  • Set the Storydesk timezone for the group, used for rundown planning in Storydesks within this group.

  • Add tags to the group using the '+ Add tag' button

  • Add sub-groups or workspaces using the 'Actions' section ('+ Add sub-group', '+ Add Storydesk', '+ Add Rundown project')

Deleting a group

In the group's 'Settings' tab, scroll to the 'Actions' section and click the 'Delete Group' button. Confirm when prompted.

Deleting a group removes the group and all of its sub-groups and workspaces. This action cannot be undone. Ensure all content has been migrated or is no longer needed before deleting.

Assigning members to a group

Open the 'Access' tab of the group. In the 'Add or invite' field, search for existing members or type email addresses to invite new people. You can add several people at once. Select a role ('Admin', 'Contributor', or 'Viewer'), then click 'Assign' or 'Send invites'. See Inviting members and managing access for details.

Members assigned at a group level automatically gain access to all sub-groups and workspaces beneath it. Members from parent groups inherit access automatically. You do not need to add them again at each level.

Assigning configuration to a group

The following can be assigned to a group from their respective tabs in the group detail panel:

  • Media tab - assign media libraries

  • AI tab - configure context instructions and the interest profile that shape AI behavior for the group

  • Lists tab - assign lists and edit their records

  • Block Repositories tab - assign block repositories (for non-Cuez Rundown users)

  • Feeds tab - assign news feed sources

  • Automator tab - register Automator instances

  • Social tab - connect social media accounts

Anything assigned to a group is inherited by all sub-groups and workspaces beneath it.
