Conditional visibility lets you show or hide a field based on what someone has selected in another field in the same block. This keeps blocks lean and relevant, with fields only appearing when they are actually needed.
Example: A block has a Shot type Label field. You add a condition to a Remote location Plain text field, so it only shows when Shot type is Live two-way. For any other shot type, the field stays hidden, and producers are not asked to fill it in.
Adding a condition to a field
Open the template in the Blockz editor (must be in 'Editing' mode)
Click the six-dot grab handle on the left of the field you want to conditionally show or hide
Select 'Conditions'
Click '+ Add a condition'
Choose the source field - the field whose value determines whether this field is shown
Choose an operator (see below)
Enter a value if required by the operator
Available operators
Which operators you can choose depends on the type of the source field.
Operator | Shows the field when... |
Is | the source field equals a specific value |
Is not | the source field does not equal a specific value |
Is empty | the source field has no value |
Is not empty | the source field has any value |
Contains | the source field value includes a string |
Does not contain | the source field value does not include a string |
Starts with | the source field value begins with a string |
Ends with | the source field value ends with a string |
Combining conditions
Click '+ Add a condition' to add more than one rule. Each additional condition can be set to 'AND' (all conditions must be met) or 'OR' (any one condition is enough).
Visual indicators
Fields that have conditions show a filter icon with the number of conditions in their label. Hover over the icon to see the count.
How hidden fields behave
A hidden field is not shown as long as the condition is not met
If the condition changes (for example, the producer updates the source field), the hidden field appears immediately with no page refresh needed
