Setting up media libraries

How to connect shared media asset libraries and assign them to groups so Rundown and Storydesk users can access images and video.

Media libraries are shared collections of approved media assets (images, videos, and graphics) that Rundown and Storydesk users can browse and use when building episodes and stories. You create and manage libraries in Cuez Admin, then assign them to groups so the right teams have access.

Prerequisites

The media_integrations capability must be enabled for your organization. If Media Libraries is not visible in the sidebar, contact [email protected].

Only organization owners can add and assign media libraries. See Understanding roles in Cuez Admin for more on each role.

Adding a media library

  1. Navigate to 'Media Libraries' in the left sidebar.

  2. Click '+ Add library' in the top-right corner.

  3. In the 'Add Media Library' modal, enter a name for the library.

  4. Select an 'Integration Type' from the dropdown.

  5. Complete any additional fields that appear for your selected integration type.

  6. Click 'Add library' to save.

Supported integration types

Cuez Admin supports connections to the following media providers: Cuez Gallery EU, Cuez Gallery US, Indexing Folder, EVS Via Map, EVS XT (On-Prem), Mimir, TVU Drive, Bitcentral, Iconik, xPression, Mxmz, Mapcreator, Everviz, PAM, Dropbox, BitCentral Drop Zone, Mos Drop Zone, Singular Live, and Custom.

If your provider is not listed, use the 'Custom' option or contact [email protected].

Assigning a library to groups

After creating a library, assign it to the groups that should have access:

  1. Navigate to 'Groups' in the left sidebar.

  2. Select the group or sub-group you want to assign the library to.

  3. Open the 'Media' tab in the right panel.

  4. The available libraries are listed. Select the checkbox next to the library to assign it to this group.

You can assign the same library to multiple groups. Once assigned, the library is available to all workspaces under that group.

Inheritance

Libraries assigned to a parent group are automatically available to all sub-groups and workspaces beneath it. Assigning a library to the organization root group makes it available to the entire organization.

Where media libraries appear

Once a library is assigned to a group, it becomes available anywhere users in that group work with media:

  • In Storydesk, users can browse and search the library from the 'Assets' tab when building stories.

  • In Blockz, the library appears as a source in Media fields, so users can select assets from it directly when filling out a block.

  • In Cuez Rundown, the same libraries are available when adding media directly to a block instance in an episode.

Users do not need to take any action. The library appears automatically in all three products after the assignment is saved in Admin.
