Block repositories

How to manage block repositories in Cuez Admin: assigning repositories to groups and pushing updates to stations.

Block repositories are shared collections of Rundown block templates, the cue blocks (graphics, clips, interview, lower thirds, and so on) that producers use during shows. Block repositories are created and assigned to groups in Cuez Admin, and can be used in Cuez Rundown or third party NRCS such as iNew or ENPS.

This article covers the Cuez Admin side: assigning repositories to groups and managing their status.

How block repositories work across the three products

Product

Role

Blockz

Where block templates are created and edited

Cuez Admin

Where repositories are assigned to groups and their status is managed

Cuez Rundown

Where producers access and use the repository's blocks during a show

When a new Rundown project workspace is created in Cuez Admin, a block repository is automatically created and linked to it in Blockz. No separate block repository needs to be created.

Prerequisites

The block_repositories capability must be enabled for your organization. If Block Repositories is not visible in the sidebar and you use a third party NRCS such as iNews or ENPS, contact [email protected].

For Cuez Rundown, this sidebar option is currently not required for block repositories to function, as the creation and management are handled through Cuez Rundown and Blockz.

Viewing block repositories

Navigate to 'Block Repositories' in the left sidebar. The table lists all repositories in your organization with their name, description, status ('Active' or 'Disabled'), and creation date.

Creating a repository

  1. Navigate to 'Block Repositories' in the left sidebar.

  2. Click '+ Create repository' in the top-right corner.

  3. Enter a name and optionally a description.

  4. Save. The repository is created with 'Active' status.

For Cuez Rundown, block repositories are created automatically when you create a new Rundown project workspace. You do not need to create them manually in most cases.

For iNews and ENPS, a block repository does have to be created and assigned to a group.

Editing a repository

Click the pencil (edit) icon next to a repository to open the 'Edit Block Repository' modal.

From here you can:

  • Update the name

  • Update the description

  • Change the status between 'Active' and 'Disabled' using the status toggle

Click 'Save changes' to apply.

Disabling a repository makes it unavailable to Rundown projects or iNews/ENPS groups that have it assigned. Use this if a repository is being updated and should not be used during a live show.

Assigning a repository to groups

After creating a repository, assign it to the groups whose Rundown projects or iNews/ENPS should have access:

  1. Navigate to 'Groups' in the left sidebar.

  2. Select the group.

  3. Open the 'Block Repositories' tab in the right panel.

  4. Check the box next to the repository to assign it to this group.

Opening Blockz to edit a repository

To edit the blocks inside a repository, open Blockz directly. From the Groups tree, hover over a Rundown project workspace and click the grid icon to open it in Blockz. You can also use the 'Open Blockz' button in the workspace's 'Settings' tab.
