This guide walks you through your first session in Blockz, from signing in to having a working block template ready for use in Cuez Rundown.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
A Cuez account with access to Cuez Admin
A repository to work in. An organization owner creates one in Cuez Admin, either by creating a Cuez Rundown workspace, which creates a repository automatically, or on the 'Block Repositories' page for third party NRCS.
Step 1 - Sign in to Blockz
As a Cuez Rundown user, you can access Blockz in multiple ways:
From within the Cuez Rundown, go to 'Manage blocks' via the three dot menu in the top right of an Episode, or gear icon next to 'Block templates' when in the 'Add block' menu.
From within Cuez Admin, go to your Cuez Rundown project, then use the block icon or 'Open Blockz Repository' for that Rundown.
Go to blockz.cuez.app (EU) or us.blockz.cuez.app (US) and sign in with your existing Cuez credentials. Blockz uses the same login as Cuez Admin and Cuez Rundown. No separate account is needed.
Step 2 - Open your repository
When coming from Cuez Rundown or Cuez Admin, the correct block repository will be selected automatically. Coming from other platforms, or if you want to switch to another repository, select your repository from the switcher at the top-left of the header. If you do not see one, an organization owner needs to check in Cuez Admin that a repository exists and that you have access to it. See Block repositories for more on creating them.
Step 3 - Create your first block template
Click '+' in the left sidebar
Your new block template opens in 'Editing' mode, named UNTITLED
Type a name in the header, for example: VT or Clip
Choose a color and an icon to make it easy to identify at a glance
Assign it to a category, or create a new one (for example: Media)
Step 4 - Add fields
Click '+ Add Field' at the bottom of the canvas and choose a field type. For a VT or Clip block, you might add:
A 'Plain text' field for the clip title
A 'Label' field for the sound type (SOT, VO, etc.)
A 'Media' field for the clip itself
See Block template field types for a full guide to each field type and its configuration options.
Step 5 - Exit edit mode
Blockz saves automatically. There is no Save button. When you are done, open the '···' menu on the top right and choose 'Exit edit mode' to switch back to view mode.
Step 6 - Test in Cuez Rundown
Open a Cuez Rundown episode and type '/' in the script view. Your new block template should appear in the menu. Select it, fill in the fields, and confirm it behaves as expected.
